The Lord's Service

Worship is the central act of the Church, where God's people gather to glorify the Triune God.
We believe that worship is not merely something we offer to God, but also the primary means by which God serves His people. Through His Word and Sacrament, He nourishes us, strengthens our faith, and graciously gives Himself to His Church.

If you're visiting us for the first time, please stop by the welcome desk at the entrance. One of our greeters will be happy to welcome you, help you find a seat, and answer any questions you may have about the service.

Printed copies of the Order of Worship, the New Japanese Bible (Shinkaiyaku 2017), and our Psalter are available for everyone. Everything you need for the service will be provided, so simply come as you are.

Following the service, we gather for an Agape Meal (fellowship lunch), where we share a meal and enjoy conversation together. Everyone is warmly invited to join us, especially if you're visiting for the first time.
Liturgy
Our worship follows the historic liturgy of the Christian Church. Every prayer, hymn, Scripture reading, and confession of faith has its place within the service, together telling the story of God's redeeming work.
Our service begins with God's call to worship. Together we confess our sins and receive His assurance of forgiveness, hear His Word proclaimed, confess our faith, offer our prayers, come to the Lord's Table, and finally receive His blessing as we are sent into the world.
Each Lord's Day, we are drawn once again into the story of the Gospel and renewed as God's covenant people.
Our liturgy changes very little from week to week. This is not because we value tradition for its own sake, but because we believe God forms His Church through the faithful repetition of Word and Sacrament. As we worship, so we believe; and as we believe, so we live.
Holy Communion
We believe that Holy Communion is more than a memorial or a symbolic act. At His Table, Christ truly nourishes His people with His own body and blood, uniting us to Himself and to one another.
For this reason, we celebrate Holy Communion every Lord's Day as the climax of our worship.
We believe that everyone who has been received into Christ's covenant family through baptism is invited to His Table. Therefore, all baptized Christians, regardless of age, are welcome to receive Communion. Even our youngest baptized children are welcomed as members of God's household and invited to share at the Lord's Table.
We gladly welcome all baptized Christians, baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, to receive Holy Communion with us.
Children in Worship
We believe that children are members of God's covenant people and therefore full members of the Church.
For this reason, children worship alongside the rest of the congregation. They hear God's Word, join in prayer and song, and participate in the worship of the whole Church.
Accordingly, we do not hold a separate children's service or dismiss children for Sunday School during the worship service. We believe that worship belongs to the whole covenant family gathered before God.
Of course, young children sometimes cry, make noise, or wander about. We receive these moments with grace. The sound of children in worship is a sign of a living Church. We count it a joy and a blessing to worship together across generations as one family in Christ.
